It's hard to remember you're dead, because you're also not dead. You're alive and you're dying and you're dead, all at the same time. Time isn't a straight line or a circle. Time isn't a shape. Time is everything and it's all happening at once. When you're alive, you're the straight line. Once you die, there aren't any lines anymore. There's just everything else. You probably wanted to tell me all of this, after the car accident. You probably wanted to sit me down at that red table your mother gave us, and hold my hands in your dead ones, which were also your alive ones. You probably wanted to say "Honey, it's not anything like what you think. It's just everything. Don't even worry." You used to say that so often. "Don't even worry." Even when someone should have been worrying, because there are a lot of worrisome things in the world. You don't worry much when you're dead, except for when you do because you are alive, and life is just one little worry after another.
